A program of music for brass quintet devoted to the Christmas story of the three wise men. Includes contemporary American composer John Harbison’s dramatic and evocative music for brass with narrator that conveys the awe and mystery of events surrounding the birth of Christ. The program will include arrangements of familiar and lesser known carols from around the world, interspersed with readings of seasonal poetry and a singalong for the audience.
The performers are Russell Whitehead and Brian Sand trumpets, Mary Fearon horn, Kathryn Macintosh trombone and Scott Whetham tuba, who all play regularly with the Edmonton Symphony. They will be joined by Gordon Drever narrator.
