Great game July 31 (police vs firefighters)

City police and firefighters are set to don blue and red jerseys and fight it out in a game of flag football on July 31 to raise money for the Stollery.

"Just having a specialized service that's geared towards children is invaluable to the community," said Loucraf, who is a firefighter. "We're hoping to get a lot of fans out for the game and raise a lot of money for the Stollery."

"It'll be a lot of excitement, pushing, shoving, men being men," said Det. Raymond Wood with the Edmonton Police Service.

"There's obviously a little bit of rivalry between the fire department and the police department, a little friendly rivalry," Loucraf said with a laugh.

This is the third Let's Fill the Stadium for the Stollery charity game, and the two forces hope this year's match will raise at least $10,000.

Since 2008, the games have raised a total of $17,000.

While city cops have won the first two charity games and are hoping for a third consecutive win, Wood says that, in the end, the Stollery and its patients are the real winners.

Game day also includes a silent auction with prizes including police ride-alongs, a tour of the canine unit and signed items by the Edmonton Eskimos.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at United Cycle, the Eskimo Team Store, Second Cup at 109 Street and Jasper Avenue or at Clarke Park on game day.

Single tickets cost $10 while a family pass is $20.
