Brooke Fraser is a successful singer-songwriter in New Zealand who is just starting to make it here in North America. She grew up in Wellington, New Zealand. She started taking piano lessons at age 7 and began writing songs at 12. In her mid-teens she took up the acoustic guitar and taught herself to play. Meanwhile she began writing articles for a magazine called Soul Purpose. In high school Brooke Fraser was asked to play a songs as school assembly items. By the end of high school she used these performances as fund raisers for World Vision.

Upon graduation in 2002 she was made editor of Soul Purpose Magazine. Then she soon moved to another city in New Zealand, Auckland, to pursue her music career. There she was introduced to producer Matty J who became her manager. By the end of the year, at age 18 she signed a multi-album deal with Sony Music Entertainment New Zealand.

Her first album What to Do With Daylight was released to her home country in 2003. It debuted at #1 and sold over 120,000 copies in New Zealand alone. In 2004, after an Australian tour, she moved to Sydney where she began attending Hillsong Church.

Brooke Fraser has 4 sponsor children and in 2005 she visited Rwanda. She has returned every year since. On that first trip she met a girl named Albertine who had been orphaned by the genocide of 1994. Albertine became the title track of her latest album. It was recorded in California and released in New Zealand in 2006. It debuted #1 and went double platinum in less than a month there.

Back in Australia Brooke Fraser became one of the principal worship leaders and collaborator on the Hillsong Live worship albums. Mighty To Save(2006), Saviour King(2007), and This Is Our God(2008). She also joined Hillsong churches from around the world for the Hillsong United albums United We Stand(2006), All of the Above(2007), and I Heart Revolution(2008).

In 2008 Albertine was finally released to North America. This followed by a deluxe edition with 8 live bonus tracks. On March 17th 2008 she married musician Scott Ligertwood in Sydney. She says her new last name has ten letters and three syllables so she's sticking with "Brooke Fraser" for music purposes.

In 2010 she released her third album called Flags.
